I have built rods under the Runamuck Custom Rod brand for over seven years.
My friends found it difficult to get suitable rods for the changing conditions they often found themselves fishing, whether on the Gulf Coast or in the Pacific Northwest.
I started with building for friends, and the word traveled fast. Today, I sell Custom Fishing Rods to demanding customers through my network of coastal fishing guides and their affiliated guide shops. I am in high demand due to my ability to get the best blanks and compliment them with custom components I create.
Purpose Built
I specialize in building fly, casting, and spinning rods and spend much of my time on the water with other custom fly rod crafters. After a quick one-on-one conversation, you quickly understand I understand the value of form and function.
My process starts with understanding the type of water and casting you like to do and the kind of tackle you have the most confidence in. I recommend components and explain how they perform in your fishing scenarios.
As you narrow down on components, I'll finish the process with a color and trim plan that will allow you to set your rod apart.
The Materials
Runamuck Custom Rods has Level 3 customization capabilities.
RCR can build on high-quality Carbon Fiber, Graphite, or Fiberglass rod blanks. I have customers who will buy carbon fiber and fiberglass custom fly rods to give them flexibility when conditions change on the water.
When choosing a grip and reel seat, I know these are often reel-dependent selections, so have a sense of the reel you plan to use with your creation, and from there, we can get creative with stacked or layered grips.
